(More customer reviews)This RUBBERMAID shed which was not cheap for it small size, held up for EXACTLY, 1 year and 3 months. The doors seems a bit warped, and actually did measure, about 1/8" warp, in the mid-panel on one door. While the poorly designed door assembly will fit into place at installation, the design mechanism to HOLD them in place, is far too flimsy for the weight of the doors to be maintained for any long period of time. So, if a wind in excess of 20mph comes along, be careful. The design is terrible, both doors, went flying down our driveway on winter day with a 20-25mph, moderate wind gust, definitely, NOT SEVERE! These Rubbermaid doors, never stayed on after that, the nipples that held them in placed, were damaged by scraping on cement. We had to scrap the entire shed.
If you call Rubbermaid's Customer Service, don't be surprised when their people give you a hard time, don't give you much in the way of troubleshooting and tell you: "YOU MUST HAVE INSTALLED SOMETHING WRONG" or "IT STATES ON THE PACKING BOX, DISASSEMBLE THE UNIT IN HIGH WINDS." After spending the time to read the instructions assemble the unit, load it up with garden tools etc., how many people want to take it down each time a 20 mph breeze comes along? Their Customer Service people were terrible and make no attempt at all, to troubleshoot, and didn't care at all, our expensive garden equipment was exposed to the elements and to theft. There's nothing written, about "high winds" on the actual instructions, but they'll tell you, it's on the BOX and you should have noted that. And, exactly what is a high wind, 25mph? They sure don't say. Be persistent, they won't send you replacement doors even if they are defective, but they'll send you a lot of other components that won't work 2 months later later. You'll have a hard time convincing them, but keep calling, you might get the one person who isn't arrogant and condescending to help you...there really is only one person there who tried to help; we talked to about 4.
We had a lot of confidence in Rubbermaid before this shed incident, but now would never even consider any of their products agains for outdoor storage. By the way, we're not in a very windy area, we're in the middle of Pennsylvania! So, can you imagine how many times anyone who lives in a Tornado or Hurricane zone, would have to disassemble their unit?
Get a shed that's made of wood or metal!

(More customer reviews)I really should have gotten this years ago. I live in an area ruled by home owner association bylaws and building a proper shed was not an option. This product is perfect for small yards, or limited spaces and really does assemble in 15 minutes or less.
Actually, a friend and I had time to not read the instructions, try and assemble it wrong, read the instructions we should have read and then assemble it correctly in less than 15 minutes.
I threw 6 16" square concrete pavers down as a base and the shed fit perfectly. It is large enough to hold two full size garbage cans, but I use it to hold backyard tools, birdseed, potting supplies and other gardening accessories.
Two spots in the back are fashioned so you can drill the unit to solid vertical surface for additional support, like a fence, or a wall. I'd use a decent size screw/bolt and washers. You can add two shelves in ready-made depressions. Standard wooden shelving boards work fine, but notch the back corners to get it to fit correctly.
There is a plastic hasp for a lock, so if you're worried about someone other than a kid poking through your stuff, the plastic hasp is not going to stop a serious thief and will give them less trouble to cut than the lock you put on it.
I like it, but if you've got security issues and stuff you would hate to lose, keep your valuables in something where the lock mechanism isn't part plastic.

I decided to clean out the garage after being inspired by a friend who was doing the same. He ended up purchasing the Coleman series which is soo much nicer! The doors have actual hinges on them and they look better. I got the father's day special so for the money I can't complain. Except for the shipping. When I saw the box, I thought for sure these were smashed but they were just a little dented. Get ready to tap lightly with a soft hammer. The box says no tools, but don't believe it.Target had a lower price but I didn't want to pick them up. Target also carries the coleman. I'm saving you time and legwork. Spend 30% more and go with the coleman brand unless you have the money to go with Garage Tek look alikes. If I could do this again, I'd spend the 30% more.
Updated May 30, 2006 after owning for 2 years.
These are in my garage holding paint cans, auto cleaning supplies etc. I would not purchase these again and am looking for replacements. The sleves are now warped in the middle and smaller items fall or roll into the dip. If you are just storing rafts or lawn cushions you should be allright. If you have paint cans or heavier items, opt for metal shelving.

The construction is relatively lightweight (only rated for 200#). I found the stool easier to carry from room to room and easier to open and close than other models I checked out at the hardware store. Great for changing light bulbs and other quick tasks.

(More customer reviews)This shed is awesome! I put it up in about 4 hours alone. That did not include the 3 hours it took me to make a plywood platform or the good hour and 10, yes 10, tubes of silicone caulk I used to seal it. (Overall time, 8 hours of labor).
I'm not one who generally uses instructions since I know instructions are not usually written by the person or people who actually designed the product. I used the provided instructions for a guide, they worked good enough. I did have to redo a couple steps, but it didn't bother me. Things like this are like a jigsaw puzzle, just have fun with it and you'll be OK.
Once you get the box near to where you're going to set up the shed, the parts are all lightweight and easy to move. After you figure out how a couple panels fit together, it's really simple. Even the roof was not hard. After reading a couple reviews on other websites I thought this thing would be really hard to set up. It was surprisingly easy. I've built playhouses and tree houses from scratch, taught myself how to weld, extensively modified my own vehicles, and have commanded counter-insurgency operations overseas with special forces. So, what is sometimes easy for me, may be hard for you.
The one thing I did NOT like about the shed were the two flimsy and cracked skylight panels (yes, mine arrived cracked, but I fixed them with caulk). You also have to use a whole lot of silicone if want this shed to be water tight.
But, this shed does not look cheap like a metal one, the panels are light and won't cut your hands like a metal shed, this shed won't rust, and it won't cost you an arm and a leg like a good wood shed. I love it for storing my yard equipment and pool supplies. It's nice to no it won't be degraded by chemicals like chlorine. It's also pretty sturdy and I have walked on it without falling through the roof, so that seems like a good sign.

(More customer reviews)First of all, it's listed as a 6' x 5', but the foundation they recommend is 3 1/2" shy of this in width and depth. The actual shed is about 2" less than the foundation in both directions, so that's misleading. Secondly, make sure you understand that the shed comes with no floor. You can either pore a slab of concrete or build one out of wood, which is what I did. The wall panels are kind of flimsy, but when you put it all together, the frame part is pretty sturdy. Beware of when it rains though, water will leak inside onto the floor. The metal frame just sits on the foundations (with screws), so it's not leak proof on the bottom and the drainage holes don't work that well. After caulking all around the base, inside and out, it seems to be much drier. All in all, it's been a lot of work for a somewhat satisfactory result. I don't know who can assemble this thing in 1 to 3 hours, I'm considered fairly handy and it took me a LOT longer that that. I did do it by myself though, and they recommend 2 people on certain pages of the manual. Leveling the ground, and then buying and building the floor/foundation was about half the job itself. The price was right, but the product was more work than I anticipated.

(More customer reviews)This is a great storage solution for lawn equipment (push mower, not rider), yard tools, etc. We bought one to hide behind our new home because our home owner's association has rules about sheds and because it's low-profile, so it sits under the windows where we have it. Very easy assembly.
Don't buy this online at these prices. The Home Depot near me is selling it right now for under $280. This is their standard price, not a sale.
