(More customer reviews)Our family bought some new patio furniture this year, and now we have 4 chair cushions, 1 chaise lounge cushion, and 3 cushions that go on our new 3-person swing! Leaving them out isn't an option if you want them to stay nice, and storing them in the house or garage and bringing them out when you want to sit down isn't very practical.
So I started looking for storage chests. My husband didn't believe that Amazon would carry such items, but being a long-time Amazon-shopper, I know that it's the first place to go for info and reviews on good products to buy!
I saw that smaller storage chests are just too small. One of them had a number of reviews saying that you can't even put cushions to 4 chairs in there. I knew we needed something bigger.
We are thrilled with this storage chest. My husband said it was a pleasure to put together - ridiculously easy - no tools required and the plastic pieces just snap together! I wish I could say the same for the rest of our patio furniture! Also, this item is extremely well-made. You can open the lid, or prop the lid up with the stick provided (like a grand piano's small stick) and open the doors. You can also put a padlock on it.
This is an attractive addition to our patio and it holds our 8 cushions with room to spare!

The Rubbermaid 3753 Split-Lid Deck Storage Shed - 18 cu. ft. has a hinged roof split-lid roof with a prop bar so that you can easily raise one side or the other. (More customer reviews)I have had this shed for less than one year. High temperatures here in the summer months reach high 90's with the occasional day at one hundred degrees. This shed is in partial shade during much of the afternoon, yet the heat buckled it so badly that it had to be wired back together---it actually popped apart! It became so warped that the top will not close.
Before that, during the winter, it contracted so much from the cold, (which, at worst, would be about 20 degrees at night) that spaces appeared at all the seams and water and snow went right in.
So, what good is a shed that literally pops apart and is not water resistant?
It is quite expensive and not at all reliable, unless, of course, you live in a mild climate where it is always balmy and never rains or snows.
