It doesn't say in the product description, but this product needs to be washed off with soapy water and then rinsed. I bought it to polish brass on a large trunk and this just doesn't work for me or the trunk. Very disappointed.

Our front door gets intense western sun here in the Southwest. The wood was getting very ugly until I sanded it lightly, did some polyurethane finish touch-up then used about 3 coats of this product. I also used it on the interior of the door and another outside door. Our builder's sub recommended something called tree or tri- wax which I was never able to find but this product works fine. I should have used it sooner instead of later on our new house and would have had less damage to correct. I believe if I wax the front door once a year or so I won't have another problem. The difference now is remarkable.

Howard FW0004 Feed-N-Wax Wood Polish and Conditioner, 4-Ounces Review

I use it to rejuvenate and preserve antique gun (oiled) wood stocks. Product does an excellent job. Directions say to wipe it off in 20 minutes. I let it soak in for a few days and then lightly wax again to recoat the dull spots and wipe down a day later. I always use the same cloth to apply and a clean cloth to wipe. Additional application(s) may be necessary after a few weeks if the wood is real "thirsty". A little bit goes a long way if you use the same applicator cloth and store it in a zip-lock bag.

Ok, first of all, I do not work for Howard's and I have zero affiliation to the company. I posted a question/issue on several different wordwooding forums looking for some help on polishing up the 3rd coat of semi-gloss oil polyurethane I had applied to my dining room table top (solid oak with mahogany border). The coat dried relatively flat, but had many hazy spots and overall was moderately rough to the touch. So I was debating over sanding again with 0000 steel wool and applying a 4th coat to see if I can get it to go on more smoothly or if I could just somehow buff it out with a polishing agent. Pretty much across the board, almost all wood 'professionals' said that I would need to sand with a high grit paper and lay another coat. It's almost like nobody knows about this product.
I happened upon this bottle of burnishing cream at my local hardware store decided to give it a try. After testing it on a small area, I was immediately impressed. So I proceeded to polish / buff out the entire table top. Wow! The result is incredible! Now my dull, hazy, rough textured coat of poly has turned into a glossy, smooth as silk mirror like surface.
It takes a lot of hard work and elbow grease (cotton cloth wipe on / buff out method), but it is worth it if you want the shine. Now my 'semi-gloss' is glossier than most 'clear gloss' polys.

Howard RF7016 Restor-A-Finish, 16-Ounces Dark Oak Review

I used this to restore all of the oak cabinets in my house. Our house was built in 1988 and had fairly upscale Merilat cabinets that were just worn and faded. In the bathrooms, we had a lot of hzings, greying, and checking.
After using Restor-a Finish, the cabinets looked practically brand new!! A few things to note, though:
#1 - The grain in the wood becomes more pronounced and more defined. Imagine oak cabinets with the grain depth of hickory.
#2 - the final finish is quite dull. In our situation, a klitchen with dark red walls and stainless/black appliances, the dull satin finish worked really well. In the bathrooms, we ended up using a bees wax product to give them some luster.
#3 - While the product is easy to use, it is still labor intensive. We used the steel wool method of applying, after wiping the cabinets down witha high quality acidic wood wash that we got though our local woodshop. That cut through all of the grease and gunk. Then we went back with the Restor-a-Finish with o grade steel wool and applied with the gran of the wood. I did this twice. Each time the finish improved, but each time thw wood got a little darker. Since our wood was of a medium grain medium stain, a little darker was OK.
My suggestion to ANYBODY thinking about redoing a kitchen: buy this and try it on the insides of some cabinet doors first. You may find the facelift is more than enough to hold off on new cabinets for a while.
