(More customer reviews)Like the previous reviewer, I ran out of 3M tape and thought, "How different could this Duck tape actually be from the usual blue stuff? I'll save a few bucks ... after all, it's just painter's tape!" Man, was I ever wrong. This is an AWFUL product. The edges are jagged and the adhesive is almost non-existent. What good is painter's tape if the edge looks like a mountain range? I could have gotten a better paint line by using scotch tape! I'm so disappointed with this product that I will no longer be buying *anything* under the Duck brand.

(More customer reviews)I recently ran out of 3M blue tape while masking off the baseboards of some walls I was painting. I have always cursed 3M tape for being ridiculously overpriced, and I when I saw the more affordable Duck brand tape in the store, I thought "How much worse could it be?" The answer: several magnitudes worse.
When the description promises "Clean Release", you may believe them. The tape doesn't stick to ANYTHING. Not to walls, not to baseboards, and barely to itself. I could not stretch the tape more than a foot without losing all of the progress I had made up to that point. The product is ineffective for its intended purpose. Until something better comes along, I guess I'm still at the mercy of 3M.

(More customer reviews)Whenever I needed masking tape for painting, I always bought the old fashioned tan kind. As far as I knew, that was the only kind there was. I only used a little, so then it would sit in the garage and slowly become hardened and unuseable. I kept buying additional rolls. Then we had some work done on the flooring in the house and the crew used a new kind of blue masking tape. I asked about it and they remarked that it was far superior to the old kind. Well, the next time I needed masking tape I bought a roll of the blue stuff. The clerk suggested the Mult-surface variety as it might best suite the variety of needs I might put it to.
This Scotch Blue Painter's Tape is an excellent product. I've used it on a variety of surfaces over the past several years and it seems to work well on all. The only problem I've had is that it sticks too well on some surfaces and I've had a little trouble in removing patches of it. It's no real problem, just a little annoyance.In addition, my wife is an artist and she's put it to use on a number of occasions. All in all, I'd say this stuff is superior to the old fashioned tan type and I'll probably never go back.

3M SBTA1510-1 Scotch-Blue Painter's Tape Applicator Review

(More customer reviews)This thing has really sped up my paint prep. I've never been able to tape off a 15 ft wall with one single piece, but this lets you do that. While it basically does the taping for you, you still need to use some technique. For example, applying tape the a thin 1/4" edge, like the top of your baseboard, is a bit tricky.
Giving it 4 out of 5 because the tape tearer could work better and one of the wheels fell off of my model after 2 rooms of usage. I'm hoping to fix that on my own.
One bummer, it requires a smaller 30 yard roll "Type C"

We followed the instructions perfectly and it still ripped off paint and drywall throughout our basement. Not only are we out the money used to buy this so called time saver, we have to spend days correcting what it did to our home! My husband and I have painted many rooms and projects throughout our 25 year marriage and we have never been so disgusted with a product! When speaking with friends about our dilemna, we found out that atleast 2 other couples experienced this same ordeal with this defective product!

(More customer reviews)So we needed to paint our house...inside and outside. Man what a task, but I could not have done it without lots and lots of this blue painters tape.
Buying an individual roll at the home improvement stores is fine if you are only doing one room, however, we knew we were going to need a lot more than one roll for the job.
Also, you can use this for labeling boxes. I keep a black sharpie and a roll of blue tape in the junk drawer and I use it at least once or twice a week to label stuff.

My favorite use for the tape is marking containers and bags for the freezer. It will not fall off, the color is bright but a black marking pen is easy to read and the tape comes off easily when you need it to.

Clean baseboards or other surfaces before you apply it, press down lightly, it helps prevent bleed through and comes off easily. Don't try to use masking tape as a substitute, it will damage surfaces.

Frog Tape 82031 Pro Painters Masking Tape, 1-7/8-Inch by 60-Yards, Green Review

(More customer reviews)I must be doing something wrong, because this tape worked no better than the blue painter's tape you get at the hardware store. I still had plenty of leaks underneath the tape - no matter how carefully I applied and pressed it down. Last night, I taped the room for the stripes I was painting and by this morning, the tape was curling up and almost falling off in some places.
One bright spot in the first mess with this tape was that I did discover a very easy and almost foolproof way to get crisp lines for my stripes. I found this tip online. After taping the wall, put a small bead of clear caulk on your finger and wipe the edge that you will be painting. After that, take a barely wet cloth and wipe the edge clean so that there is no visible caulk. Let it dry and then paint your edge. The tiniest bit of caulk that is left under the tape edge is not visible, but prevented the paint from leaking under the tape. It really works great!

(More customer reviews)Tape is maybe a bit too delicate, as I have routinely had problems getting it to stick to my walls. It and its cousins don't work well for brush painting anyway, unless you're an extremely sloppy painter. I always get paint to work its way under the tape - it's cheaper and quicker to ditch the tape and freehand edges. Maybe it does ok for spray paints. I will say it does work well for masking caulk, when you can get it to stick, of course.
