These are well made and work as advertised. However, do not be fooled by the pictures on their website or here on Amazon. Those are 40oz cans that they show in the pictures to make it look like an efficient use of space. You could get 4-5 times more 14.5oz cans in the same amount of space as this unit takes. So if you are going to store 31-40oz cans, they are great. If you were expecting to store regular 14.5oz cans, it is a tremendous waste of space. Also, their picture on the website makes it look as though these units will fit in a regular 12" deep cabinet. No way! This unit is 16.5" deep. It is huge! It won't even fit on my pantry shelves until I add another 1 1/2" of shelf depth.

Wrought Iron Hanging Pot Rack with Hooks--Amish Made Review

Wrought Iron Hanging Pot Rack with Hooks--Amish Made

Got this as a wedding gift. It looks great - the picture doesn't do it justice - and it's well made without being too heavy for the ceiling. The most difficult part about installing it was finding ceiling studs to put two hooks in :) Once that feat was accomplished, though, the pot rack was a cinch to hang since it only has two connecting points.
It only came with 4 hooks, unfortunately, so after we used these there was plenty of space left for more pots/hooks. So I just bought 3 more of the small hooks (which it comes with), and 3 of the medium. Everything was shipped quickly and securely, and it's all well made. Great purchase! (At least until it falls out of the ceiling because I didn't really find studs :P )

We were given Ove Gloves for Christmas last year, and absolutely love them! They're so much better than traditional potholders and oven mitts. The only thing to watch out for is that they're not waterproof, so don't dip your thumb in the soup.

I don't care for silicone products and searched high and low for a rubber scrapper. I used the old Rubbermaid rubber scrapper for years and needed a replacement. Well, these are much more like silicone than rubber!!! They are not very flexible like a true rubber product. Apparently no one makes the old-fashioned rubber type scrappers any more. I don't like these at all and probably won't use them. Also, I was expecting one package containing three scrappers in different sizes. You actually get three packages of three each!! So I have a total of 9 (nine) scrappers!! This was not at all clear in the ad copy. They also seem low quality as the handles are very light weight and not sturdy. Very disappointed in this ECKO product. They used to be much better quality.

Organize It All 1866 Soup Can Rack Review

Organize It All 1866 Soup Can Rack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I freely confess, I'm another one who thought at first glance that this item was overpriced. At one time in the misty past, I had something similar in the white plastic coated wire you see nowadays as shelving, only much flimsier. That product lasted all of a month or so before collapsing completely. Talk about not worth the price you paid!
The Chrome Pantry Can Goods Rack is one of the better purchases I've made in the last year. I tried a few other solutions before buying this one because I was concerned about the price. Inexpensive lazy susans and tiered can shelves didn't what I needed: Organize a few cans of each type together, where I could see what I had at a glance. Many of the competitors are poorly made, and like my old white wire version, they fall apart easily, spilling cans everywhere. Some are poorly sized, like the tiered "can shelving" I bought that couldn't actually hold cans! And some just aren't suited to anything smaller than a 6 person family, like alternatives I've seen recommended here on Amazon, where you're intended to have 10 or more of any one kind of canned food. That's just too much for this two person household to store.
This pantry organizer is a perfect storage device if you a.) Like quality built products; b.) Keep around 5 of any given canned item on hand at a time; and c.) don't want to be limited by the size of the cans you prefer. This unit can hold a tremendous amount without bending in the least, and it doesn't matter what type of cans you have. There's space for them all! The "wire" is heavy gauge, and the chrome hasn't chipped or flaked in 3 months of regular use.
The only disadvantage would be overall size. To make a unit like this as sturdy as possible, you sacrifice the flexibility of making the width of the whole device adjustable, as it is on some lesser products. If you have small shelves, either by width, height, or depth, you'll want to measure carefully to ensure you have enough room for this rack.
But if you have enough room, I can't say enough good things about it. This really helped alleviate a lot of irritation I had with my pantry. I only wish I could find other organizational products that worked this well for every part of my house.

Cosco 11120RED1 Retro Chair/Step Stool, Red Review

Cosco 11120RED1 Retro Chair/Step Stool, Red
Average Reviews:

I bought the yellow version of this step stool - my grandma used to have one just like it, or so I thought. This is not the step stool I was hoping for. It's clunkier, cheaper, and not the same "shiny" vinyl that my grandma had. The step stool mechanism on this new one is just cheap plastic that allows the steps to "slide" in and out. I had a little bit of trouble putting it together. Oh, and on the instructions, you're told that you'll have to periodically retighten the bolts! What - is this thing going to come apart with use?!?! Overall, a disappointment and not worth the amount of money I paid for it. Nice idea, but I want the REAL thing, not some cheap imitation.

I bought this for my 80 year-old mother, so she could sit while she does kitchen chores.
The stool is light-weight enough for her to move and provides a comfortable seat.
There are two drawbacks: the step part of the stool doesn't come out quite far enough, giving the feeling of instability. Also, I assumed the entire unit folded for storage, but this is not the case. Only the steps fold in.
Both of the above are minor drawbacks and I would recomend this item to anyone.

Amco Swing-A-Way 407WH Portable Can Opener, White Review

Amco Swing-A-Way 407WH Portable Can Opener, White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this item and received it yesterday (June 3rd, 2010). To clear up any inquiry, the can opener I received (Amco Swing-A-Way 407WH) is NOT made in the USA: it has no stamp indicating origin on the can opener (the old ones said Made in USA), and the package states "Made in China." So if you are looking for an authentic Swing-A-Way can opener made in America like I was, try somewhere else because Amco has sold this model overseas.
BTW I compared it to our existing Swing-A-Way, they are very similar in weight and feel, with the action between the gears on the China model being a bit looser/less precise than the old one. Can't say how it will hold up, but the quiet betrayal is disappointing.

Taylor 1470 Digital Cooking Thermometer/Timer Review

Taylor 1470 Digital Cooking Thermometer/Timer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Who would have thunk this would still be my favourite remote thermometer, 17 years later? I now even have four different brands, so I can compare them right here:
* This one, which I still use daily and think of in terms of "better the Devil you know..."
* The similar-looking but less well-thought-out Oneida 31161 Digital Thermometer & Timer, which is annoyingly loud and also scoots backwards when you press Start/Stop.
* The Oregon Scientific AW131 Grill Right Wireless Talking Oven/Barbeque Thermometer, which is a horrible "talking" design with a stiff learning curve that is utterly unaided by the manual, but has ONE feature that makes it worth learning and makes me forgive all its sins: its probe can survive 572 F.
* The Maverick Wireless Cooking Thermometer, which works well, but I don't quite get the point of the "iPod interface"
So, to this one. First thing you need to know is: buy a spare probe, because they don't last very long. They can be damaged by heat greater than 350F. That is just too low - there are many times when hotter ovens are necessary. When a probe goes bad, there is no indication until an expensive roast gets carbonized. This, of course, always seems to happen when guests are present. Spare probes are available at a decent price from taylorusa dot com. Come to think of it: get two.
A recent new use for me is the foolproof production of world-class steaks, as thick as they are wide, to any precise desired degree of doneness: pre-heat the (salted, peppered) steaks in a 275 F oven until internal temperature is 90-105 F (depending on desired doneness) and finish by browning in cast-iron skillet. An even more precise technique does it the other way round, browning first, but that needs a 450F oven, which also needs the Oregon Scientific thermometer.
Here's my original review.
---------------
This is the best of the corded remote thermometers. Take it as a given that it is fairly short-lived. Now, don't hold that against it -- it has a hard job to do, it does it very well, and (what none of the other reviewers seem to realize) it does come with a lifetime guarantee. If you take care to not expose the probe to temperatures above 350 F, it should last.
My first one lasted four years, and I was completely at a loss when it broke. Once you've cooked with a remote thermometer, you will not willingly go back to "guess-n-estimate," or supposed "instant read" thermometers that actually take 15 seconds while the oven quickly cools down and your wrist-hairs start to singe and curl.
I used to be anxiously uncertain about making roast beef. Now, I bring it home, trim a little fat off, stick the probe in the center. Two minutes elapsed time, and I can kick back until it's time to make the pan gravy. Perfect (let me emphasize that) PERFECT every time.
The buttons are well-made; the display is bright and clear; Setting time and/or temperature is a snap; battery life is about 1 1/2 years when left on all the time. I covered mine in olive oil/flour/fish sauce/raw ground beef/balsamic vinegar/whatever and it still worked (hint: the buttons are not water-resistant, so turn it upside down and wipe with a soapy sponge, then rinse the same way).
You can calibrate your unit by sticking the probe in melting ice (for 32 F) and briskly-boiling water (for 212 F), but both of mine were spot-on, so you might skip this step.
Uses you might not think of: Putting the probe in a big pot of water you're boiling for pasta. You can relax, knowing you'll be buzzed when it's finally boiling.
Sticking the probe out of a closed window in the late Fall to warn you to harvest your last tomatoes.
Sticking the probe in the middle of a swordfish steak, setting it for 125-130 F, and knowing that you will get utterly PERFECT swordfish by the time it is served.
Sticking it in the middle of the largest meatball you are simmering in sauce -- you will feel completely secure that they are safe to feed to your children.
When I'm cooking at a friend's house, I bring my big shop apron, my knives, my "shovel" (it's a pastry scraper, but I mostly use it as a shovel), and this thermometer.

This thermometer with probe allows you to gauge the internal temperature of whatever you are cooking without opening the oven door, which is convenient and saves energy (as well as saving your face from a blast of heat). It also has a timer so you can be reminded when it's time to go check for doneness.
